Jay Clary Achieves Professional Certificate in Industrial Distribution

Jay Clary, Director, CAB Distribution for Novartis Animal Health US, Inc. is the first AVDA member to pursue, and attain, the Professional Certificate in Industrial Distribution. This designation was created in March of 2007 and is awarded by the Purdue University of Industrial Distribution Program and the University of Industrial Distribution.

Clary is extremely proud to earn his professional certification and believes the training completed to achieve the certification to be the best “outside” education of his career. “There are so many different industries represented at UID,” said Clary. He continued, “You get to see what works for them and what doesn't work. You get to understand how

manufacturers and distributors are after the same goals, even though they may employ somewhat different means to get there. You also come to understand that the challenges in distribution are almost universal - no matter if we're talking about animal health or HVAC distribution.”

To earn a Professional Certificate of Industrial Distribution, individuals must accumulate 9 CEUs (90 contact hours of continuing education), with a minimum of 6 CEUs (60 contact hours) being earned attending a University of Industrial Distribution (UID). Attendance at other industry educational programs such as the AVDA Annual Conference can also be applied.

For Clary and his company, the certification improves his ability to work with distribution now and into the foreseeable future. “I took the course and completed the work to learn more about how each of the distributors I work with do business and how the distribution business model works across several industries besides animal health,” explained Clary.

He maintains that the Professional Certificate in Industrial Distribution is not a mere "flash in the pan". Clary pledges to put this knowledge to work for distribution, AVDA and Novartis every day and will continue to build on his knowledge with even more continuing education.
