AVDA Veterinary Practice Survey - The Power of Distribution

One of AVDA’s strategic plan goals is to gain a better understanding of the distributor value proposition so that manufacturers and distributors will enjoy a competitive advantage in the market resulting in the ultimate customer experience. In order to achieve that goal, AVDA has embarked on a survey of veterinarians and veterinary practices about their relationships with distributors and manufacturers. AVDA has engaged The Wedewer Group to conduct a 10 minute online survey. The primary purpose of the survey is to discover what veterinarians and other decision makers involved with purchasing sources see as the key advantages and disadvantages of purchasing products through veterinary product distributors versus directly from manufacturers?

The Wedewer Group has developed VetMEDResearch, a research panel of more than 3,000 small animal veterinarians and veterinary hospital staff. Panel members are pre-qualified and profiled, so the select group of people can be invited to participate in each research project. AVDA will be utilizing the VetMEDResearch panel to achieve a goal of 300 completes. AVDA’s response set will include veterinarians, veterinary technicians or veterinary practice managers in the companion animal, large animal and equine practices.

The survey was emailed to over 1,000 veterinarians, practice managers and veterinary technicians in October and November. Results will be completed by the end of November. The final results of the survey will be presented at the AVDA Annual Conference in May 2017 and in a webinar to members next spring.

AVDA Cybersecurity Webinar with Maj. Gen. Brett Williams (USAF, Retired)
Monday, December 12, 2016 - 1:30 PM Eastern Time

An Executive Approach to a Technical Challenge

The Challenge: Senior business leaders are being held accountable for managing cyber-risk in their companies. Unfortunately, many executives do not feel comfortable with this responsibility due to their lack of technical background and their limited understanding of cyber.

The Solution: Brett Williams will be presenting a keynote during the AVDA 2017 Annual Conference that will help close the gap in language, perception and understanding between those charged with strategic business decisions and the people who have technical responsibility for cybersecurity in the company. Prior to this presentation, Brett will offer AVDA members an opportunity to get a preview of his presentation during a 45 minute webinar that will provide you, your CIO and CISO with answers to these tough questions:

  • What are the business ethics implications of customers sharing proprietary login information with third party vendors?

  • What steps should we be taking now to prevent a cyber-breach?

  • What are the standard practices on the types of data to protect?

  • How important is a Cybersecurity plan?

Brett Williams is the co-founder of IronNet Cybersecurity, Inc. His division is responsible for the design and development of security operations centers that leverage the IronNet cybersecurity solution. His division provides a variety of managed security services and client security assessments as well as training, testing and certification for network security personnel.

During his time as an Air Force General Officer, Brett served in four senior executive leadership positions. As the Director of Operations (J3) at U.S. Cyber Command, he led a team of 400 people responsible for the global operations and defense of all DOD networks as well as the planning and execution of authorized offensive operations.

Cost is $25 per person. The webinar will be recorded so members may access it at a later date if they are unavailable to participate on December 12.

Email Reminder + Dog = Increased Physical Activity
HABRI Announces Results of Research Project

(Washington, D.C.) November 14, 2016 – The Human Animal Bond Research Initiative (HABRI) Foundation today announced the results of a study exploring the effects of an email mediated intervention to increase walking in dog owners and non-dog owners, conducted by researchers at Purdue University and published in the journal Clinical Nursing Research.

Findings of the study showed that a simple email intervention sharing the importance of walking and the positive impact of walking on a dog’s health were effective tools to promote walking. These interventions caused participants to increase and maintain dog walking over a 12-month period. Email intervention for non-dog owners also increased weekly minutes of walking compared with baseline measures and control groups, however dog owners accumulated significantly more walking minutes per week than non-dog owners.

E-Reg Monitor Service

In today’s regulatory environment, pharmaceutical, distribution and healthcare companies are faced with constant changes in federal and state legislation and regulations that affect everyday business. Although no common governance exists among the states, the states do maintain similarities in the way they define and regulate key areas of pharmaceutical marketing practices as well as licensing and distribution activities. To better understand the impact of these state-by-state regulations, BuzzeoPDMA’s E-Reg Monitor Service offers two surveys to assist the industry in monitoring these.

AVDA members who subscribe to the E-Reg Monitor Service have access to an online tool that provides legislative and regulatory updates on Drug Distribution and Drug Pedigree laws on the Federal level and in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Subscribing members have 24/7 access to the service and receive e-mail notification when updates are available. The annual subscription fee for AVDA members is now $2,500 per AVDA Member Company. Companies subscribing to this service would individually pay in excess of $25,000 per year.

If you already subscribe to E-Reg Monitor Service, you should have received a separate invoice with your dues invoice to renew your subscription.
